Leadership at all levels: Driving Change at Publicis Canada

The year 2020 will be remembered for many things, but none more than global change. Seismic events throughout the year galvanized individuals and organizations to clarify and codify what’s important to them. At Publicis, it’s compelled us to build positive change into the fabric of who we are and what we do.

Two important values we hold dear are that purpose and profit aren’t mutually exclusive, and that we have a strong culture of participation, with leaders at all levels raising their hands and voices to turn ideas into action.

For 2021, we’re focusing on four key pillars that represent the areas where we’re building positive and lasting change. And to ensure delivery meets intent, we have formalized our Driving Change structure, team and organization with leads and volunteers supporting each committee.

We’re creating a place where Diversity and Inclusion are a driving part of our success, of our agency’s culture, and of the work we do. By offering learning opportunities to understand diverse perspectives, expanding our outreach strategy to diversify our talent at all levels, and providing active mentoring to support advancement and remove barriers, we’re committed to ensuring our teams have the tools necessary to put our vision for lasting Equality into action.

Through ongoing programs, we’re raising awareness of intersectional modes of discrimination, with a focus on: Racial Equality, Gender Equality, Accessibility Equality, and LGBTQ2S+ Equality.

We’re supporting our local communities by creating physical and digital volunteering and giving outlets for employees to contribute, advocate and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are homelessness or living in poverty.

We’re supporting the physical, mental and emotional well-being of our employees and those in our industry through monthly themes, classes and programming. Prioritizing health has never been more important than it is now as we all cope with the stress and isolating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

We’re contributing to making positive environmental change through our individual and agency actions, starting with busting environmental myths, educating our staff on the how we can contribute positively to the well-being of our environment and driving collective positive action.

Among our first 2021 initiatives will be a BIPOC Virtual Youth Networking Event and education and programming around World Health Day, International Women’s Day and Earth Day coming this Spring.
